Life’s Soundtrack: R.I.P. Etta James

Hey Guys,

Many of you know the song “At Last”, I mean President Obama and First Lady Michelle danced to it at his inauguration while Beyonce sang it. For many that was their first encounter with Etta James (I’ll try not to judge you). If you were smart you would’ve looked up the rest of her songs because trust me… That lady can BLOW! Sadly today she passed away after a long battle with leukaemia at the age of 73.
She was the real deal and definitely danced to her own beat. Although she had battles with alcohol and drugs and heartbreak she always put it in her music. There are few songs/singers who can honestly stir something deep in my soul and Etta was definitely one of them. Countless Sundays have found me blasting “Tell Mama” icon wink Lifes Soundtrack: R.I.P. Etta James and “Son of a Preacher Man”. Please believe me when I say I have played “All I could do is cry” and bawled. I have also gotten ready for a date all the time doing a little dance to “Make love to you”.
Man oh Man! I am indeed sad that such a talent has left us but I am so glad we were able to experience and capture it. Take a look at two of my all time favourite Etta James songs “Sunday Kind of Love” and “Steal Away” .

Walk Good Miss James…
