An interesting article from The Observer flashed across my timeline earlier today. It detailed the exploits of a young Jamaican being lured by one of the world’s biggest football teams, Bayern Munich. Whilst Usain’s exploits on the track have significantly improved Jamaica’s visibility on the World’s Sporting stage, it is easy to forget that we Jamaicans have representatives in most major sports as well as the not so glamorous competitions. At 16 years old, Kevaughn Atkinson may be young, but could prove to be our avant la lettre that will improve our visibility and global stature in the world’s most popular sport.
