I think that families are natural and because monogamy is required for a family to be stable I think it is natural. That being said, not everyone is trying to have a family. Most young people are trying to use sex and dating for status rather than to start a family. Women are socialized to want families and so I think they are more willing to look for monogamy than men. I do believe you can “like” more than one person but I doubt you can “love” more than one just for the simple fact that love is hard work! You have to love someone through thick and thin and because life is naturally crazy and exhausting, love is often crazy and exhausting as well. I would pity the fool who tries to “love” more than one other person.
Oh, and Rick Perry is an idiot, i hope they pick him as the GOP candidate so he can get his ass whooped by Obama!

BTW, I am also on the fence about the whole “monogamy” issue. I don’t know if it is possible to love or be in love with more than one person… however, if it’s a crush or “in like”… I believe it possible because I’ve been in that position before. I am a possessive person when it comes to relationships so I do not believe anything other than monogamy would be for me… but for those who can handle having multiple significant others/wives/husbands… then more power to them!
Thankfully, Creative Workshop has made it CLEAR that Bert and Ernie are not gay…they are not any sexuality they say. Whew! That entire thing was a hot mess and I saw many comments from self-identified gay people (and parents) who did not think that it was necessary for Bert & Ernie to “come out.” I agree with you, it sends the wrong message (2 men can’t live together and not be gay) and that SS is supposed to teach us how to tell time!!!
Rick Perry is…*sigh* Thing is, he has a staunch following and many people lap up his shit. Him and Michelle Bachmann. Ugh. They make Sarah Palin look sensible *facepalm*
I think that you can like one person at a time but I do not think that is possible with love. I’m undecided about monogamy to be honest – natural or not. But I am pretty possessive and *gasp* loyal and require the latter from my partner…so for me, a monogamous relationship is what I will allow into my life. And I’ve tried the dating more than one person, and I have cheated and been cheated on…but I realize that that kind of thing is NOT for me and also that it is childish behaviour…I do not like to share in that way. At all. So yeah I don’t know if it is natural but for the sake of a stable personal life/household and society I think that it is the best option.
